Metropolitan Jamboree in Hong Kong gathers over 4000 Scouts
Hong Kong welcomes Scouting Centenary
Scouts in Hong Kong are one of the first to welcome the centenary of Scouting in 2007 in conjunction with their Jamboree to celebrate the 95th year of Scouting in Hong Kong. This was held from 27 December 2006 to 1st January together with contingents from Australia, Canada, Korea, Macau, Mongolia, Philippines, Taiwan and Thailand.
For the most part, the metropolitan Jamboree, located at the heart of the buzzling city near Victoria Harbour, featured pioneering-camping activities, the biggest hit for participants was the hot air balloon tour and campfire. Highlighting the celebration was the countdown at New Year’s eve accompanied with a spectacular display of fireworks. World Scout Committee chairman Herman Hui joined over 4000 young people at the historic countdown.
