This was to give the little that we had as well as to attract people to the association. It was also an opportunity to fulfill the strategic priority reaching out. Reaching out to the vulnerable and children in especially difficult circumstances. The project which was initially planned for the three regions was eventually streamlined to just a region due to distance and the inaccessibility to move to the other regions due to the roads that had been cut off by the rains. The other two regions will be tackled next year.

• Delegation made a stopover in Kumasi and presented the Scouts with literature (-brochures, poster, stickers) on reproductive health.

Day 1 - Monday 29TH October 2007

Delegation led by the Northern Regional Commissioner Mr. Yussif Tanko paid a courtesy call on the Regional Coordinator of the Regional Youth Council. Present at the meeting were also the Regional Commissioner of the National Civic Commission on Education.
After exchange of greetings and courtesies, there was a brief discussion on youth related issues and evidence of the close relationship between the Council and the Scouts were seen in the form of pictures.
The delegation also called on the Regional Information Officer. There was also a brief discussion here on youth related activities. Interestingly he promised to render his help to the Scout Association as and when he is called. He gave out a pick-up to enable the delegation have a convenient trip.
The delegation paid a visit to Noduwa, also called the Kofi Annan village where the Chief and Elders have given out a vast land to the scouts. This is where the Scout Village is situated. This Village has three huts purposely built for training and camping purposes as well as a large mango plantation. This plantation has two main purposes, economical and as a tree-planting initiative to mitigate global warming.
The delegation paid a courtesy call on the chief and his elders where the C.C presented him with a centenary scarf and badge. As a sign of gratitude, the chief and his elders in turn presented the delegation with a guinea fowl and some tubers of yam. There was an interaction with the children of the village most of whom were in difficult circumstances.
The delegation visited the Tamale Youth Center where the Tamale Scouts have their meetings. The Scouts welcomed the delegation with songs and yells. The Scouts interacted with themselves and then the C.C taught a song. The D.C.C then told the Scouts that Scouting was about living the laws and the promise and not just wearing the uniform. She also touched on WOSM’s strategy of CEDC’s and tasked the Scouts to try to find a way to introduce one child in a difficult circumstance into Scouting before Founder’s Day. The Cultural troupe of the youth center treated the Scouts to cultural dances and also involved them in it much to the delight of the Scouts. The C.C who has never been seen dancing was brought to his feet to dance. The D.C.C donated some uniforms, scarves and literature (brochures, stickers, posters) on reproductive health to the Scouts on behalf of the National Headquarters. The Delegation also inspected the Wire Mesh Production Center of the Northern Regional Scouts. The delegation retired for the day feeling tired and yet satisfied with events of the day.

Day 2 - 30th October 2007

The delegation returned to Noduwa and donated clothings, boxes of matches and mosquito repellents to the community and especially the children in difficult circumstances.
Textbooks and boxes of chalk were also donated to the community school. These items were received by two pupils on behalf of the school. The Chief of the village expressed his gratitude and said the items would go a long way to strengthen the ties between the village and the scouts.
The delegation then paid a courtesy call on the District Chief Executive of the WaleWale district Mr. Musa Issa. He gave a brief description of the effects of the floods on the people and also thanked the Scouts for coming to their aid. The D.C.C also commented that the Scouts as volunteers were happy to give their widows mite to the people. The delegation then visited two villages in the WaleWale district.
The first was Duu. This was one of the villages that had been flooded during the torrential rains. As at the time of our arrival the floods had subsided. The members of the community treated the scouts to some traditional dances and to the delight of every one, the Scouts joined and danced with them. The Scout donated clothings, boxes of matches and mosquito repellants to the community. The Scouts donated textbooks and boxes of chalk to the community school. The headmaster expressed his thanks on behalf of the whole community and promised that the items would be put to good use. The elders of the community as a sign of gratitude presented to the Scouts a duck and pieces of smoked fish.
The delegation then visited Kpasenkpe also another village that was flooded but the waters had receded as at the time of the visit. However, there were signs of the recent floods. The members of the community danced with the Scouts some traditional dances much to the delight of everyone. The delegation donated clothings, boxes of matches and mosquito repellants in the community. The Scouts then donated textbooks and boxes of chalks to the community school. The Spokesman of the Chief thanked the Scouts for the items. He also donated two guinea fowls to the Scouts on behalf of the people as a sign of gratitude and acceptance.
The evening ended with supper provided by the Regional Director of Information at a restaurant which served as a birthday party for the D.C.C who was celebrating her birthday party.

Day 3 - 31st October 2007

The Scouts spent the morning sight seeing and experiencing the culture of the region. Most members of the delegation also visited the market to purchase items typical of the Region such as Batakari, Peanut Butter and smoked meat.
Later on the day, The Secretary of the Africa Scout Youth Committee Miss Nikitta Adjirakor met with the ventures and rovers and took them through the resolutions of the committee. After a lengthy discussion and explanations the Scouts decided to pick the resolution of CEDC’s.

Day 4 November 2007

The delegation departed in two groups as they came. The second group made up of the C.C, the D.C.C, the Deputy Training Commissioner and Nikitta made a stopover in Sunyani in the Brong Ahafo Region. They first interacted with the National Youth Council Representatives. A tree-plantation by the Scouts was inspected. It gave an opportunity to the Secretary of the Africa Scout Youth Committee to also discuss the resolutions of the committee. The Scouts there decided to continue with tree-planting which they were well versed in to mitigate climate change. The D.C.C then donated literature (brochures, stickers, posters) on reproductive health to the Scouts.
The delegation left and made a stopover in Kumasi to have lunch and finally arrived in Accra at mid-night.
