El 31 de Julio de 1922, Robert Baden-Powell viajó de París, donde había participado de la conferencia inaugural de la Organización Mundial del Movimiento Scout, a Ginebra, donde lo esperaban como orador principal en el 3er Congreso Internacional sobre Moral y Educación. Estos congresos dieron nacimiento, en el año 1925, a lo que hoy es la Oficina Internacional de Educación, que forma parte de UNESCO. El Congreso en Ginebra fue organizado por el Instituto Jean-Jacques-Rousseau.
Los Scouts del mundo entero están invitados a celebrar el Día Internacional de la Paz, el 21 de septiembre. Esta jornada fue establecida por las Naciones Unidas (ONU) en 1981 para conmemorar y reforzar los ideales de la paz.
A través del mundo, millones de Scouts trabajan por la Paz. A través de los proyectos Regalos para la Paz, son activos en el seno de sus comunidades y hablan en favor de la paz, compartiendo sus pensamientos y deseos a través de los mensajes por la paz multimedia.
The African Regional Children’s Conference is going to take place in Cameroon, 23-26 July 2007. The conference will bring together children from all parts of Africa to learn about and voice their concern for the environment. About 2-3 children from each African country between 9 and 13 years old will participate in the conference and they will be escorted by their respective chaperons.
Creating a synergy between youth organisations and specialized bodies in order to be better equipped to fight AIDS in Africa, was the challenge of the Pan-African Youth Forum called "AIDS: A Question of Education", that took place in Dakar, in March 2004, at the invitation of the President of the Republic of Senegal, Abdoulaye Wade.
Imagine a three-master sailing in the Middle East with a crew of young people from all over the Mediterranean, Israelis and Palestinians, Turks and Cypriots. They are the Sailors for Peace, who took part in a unique project for young people aged between 18 and 25 from youth movements of every type of political and religious persuasion that was organised by the World Organization of the Scout Movement in the summer of 1999.
This year the Alliance of Youth CEOs is celebrating its 10 anniversary. The Alliance, which represents the widest component of organised youth movements in the world, aims to raise international awareness on youth issues through its advocacy work.
