Project 'Return of the Flowers' hopes to rejuvenate the population of endangered flowering plants in the Maldives.
Project 'Return of the Flowers'
In collaboration with Ministry of Environment, Energy and Water, The Scout Association of Maldives has launched a Project “Return of the Flowers” in Male the capital city of the Maldives, to revive the growth of flowering plants, many which have become increasingly rare, and some of which are on the brink of extinction.
The Project commenced on 5th June 2007 on the occasion of World Environment Day. The Scouts of Maldives will be entirely responsible for the running of the project. Fifteen different types of flowering plants were planted at different areas like schools, government offices, parks and residencies of Male’.
Scouts will take the initiative to plant and monitor the progress of these plants for a year. They will also visit the sites once a fortnight and will document the progress of these plants and present the results to the Ministry of Environment, Energy and Water.
The Scout Association of Maldives is delighted in accomplishing such activities and will do their best to make the Project “Return of the Flowers” a success.
