Reinforcing adult leaders role in Scouting
Committed to reinforce the role of leader trainers and provide them with the latest training techniques, Gerakan Pramuka Indonesia (GPI) is co-hosting the Course for the Leader Trainers (CLT) from 24 to 30 November 2011 along with the Asia-Pacific Regional Office.
GPI Chairman and Regional Scout Committee member Prof. Dr. Azrul Azwar officiated the opening ceremony of the course on the evening of 23rd November at the National Training Centre in Cibubur Scout Complex in Jakarta, Indonesia. The centre has been the venue of major Scouting activities in Indonesia and is regularly use for leadership courses.
Dr Azwar said leaders need continuous training and this opportunity is now given to them. The course is attended by 32 participants mainly from Indonesia, including from Bangladesh, Japan and Thailand.
Azwar added that GPI decided to open the course not only for Southeast Asian countries, as the part of the program of the ASEAN Scout Association Regional Cooperation, whom he is the current Chairman, but also to other leaders from different parts of the region.
Among the participants are World Scout Committee member Ms Mari Nakano, Japan; APR Financial Resources Sub Committee Vice-Chairman Mr. Pataroj Kamonrojsiri, Thailand, APR Membership Growth Sub Committee member Mr. Tahidul Islam, Bangladesh and APR Programme Sub Committee member Ms. Susi Yuliati, Indonesia.
Facilitating the course is GPI National Training Centre Chairman Dr. Djoko Mursitho, along with seasoned overseas resource persons: APR Director Thian Hiong-Boon; Dr. Evelina M Vicencio, Philippines; Dr. BD Sharma, India; Mr. Amir Hamzah Aman, Malaysia; Dr. Effendy Rajab, Singapore and other local trainers.
Immediately after the course a Trainers Forum for leader trainers for all the provinces is scheduled from 1-4 December 2011 to orient them on recent training skills as well as on recent developments on World Scouting, especially on Adults in Scouting World Policy.
