Aged 65. Married. Three children. Joined Scouting as a youth. Past National President of Boy Scouts of America (BSA), held various BSA Council and Committee positions. Past Chairman, World Scout Foundation.
He was elected on the occasion of the 38th World Scout Conference in Korea, July 2008.
Attended the University of California - Berkeley. Retired President of Dreyer's Grand Ice Cream, Inc. Commissioner of National Recreation Lakes Study Commission, member of Haas School of Business Advisory Board, University of California.
