Learning, shooting and winning

With fun, interest and anticipation, the staff of the World Scout Bureau/Asia-Pacific Regional Office got into the world of basic digital photography as they had their annual staff development workshop from 5th to 7th October 2012 at the Cristina Villa Mountain Resort and Hotel in Antipolo City, Philippines.

Participants practically explored the entire resort to work their assigned tasks in two categories: documentary and thematic using different techniques they learned from resource speakers Richel Mascarinas, Edwin Tuyay and Ramon Ching who are some of the top-rated photographers in the country.

Workshop covered understanding your camera, correct positioning and exposure, different lightning condition, composition, conceptualizing your subject, and do’s and dont's of photography.

Resource speakers and participants largely spent time critiquing the photos which determines the level of understanding of the participants on the subject matter.

The workshop aimed at helping the regional office in professionalizing the selection process to get the best photos for its publications and to equip staff in taking the right photos especially during major events.

Co-ordinating the workshop was Ms Luz Taray, assisted by Noel Sabandal and Nancy Ladores. A special thanks to Vincent Morales, National Sales Manager, YKL Color Incorporated, for allowing most of the participants to use their Fuji cameras during the workshop.
