JOTA-JOTI Vision 2015
Welcome to JOTA-JOTI Vision 2015! We want to take you on a journey to a new JOTA-JOTI in 2015.
Since many years scouts and guides enjoy their JOTA-JOTI event.The internet offers exciting new possibilities for JOTA-JOTI. On www.jotajoti.org we implemented a few things like the Weblog and JamPuz ( Jampuz Evaluation). Some national organizations implemented very successful ideas, like the “Assignment Game” by the Brazilians or local initiatives like www.joti.tv. Great stuff, but a fraction of the possibilities to make JOTA-JOTI a truly exciting and interactive weekend.
With the Program “JOTA-JOTI Vision 2015” we want to jump forward. With this Program (a group of Projects) we want to create global activities for the weekend.
Our objective is to make JOTA-JOTI so exciting that 10% of all scouts and guides world wide will participate in the event.
That is 3,000,000 scouts and guides in 2015!
JOTA-JOTI?
You probably know JOTA-JOTI. No need to explain the activity. Did you know that JOTA-JOTI is not only the “Virtual Communication” weekend, but that JOTA-JOTI is also the “technology weekend” in Scouting? This is our mission.
"Bringing Scouts from all over the world together by means of electronic communication, creating awareness, understanding and friendship with people outside their normal living environment.
Stimulating interest in the technology used for the communication and developing the understanding and knowledge of these technologies."

Plan
We don't know how our JOTA-JOTI and www.jotajoti.org will look like in 2015.
For 2012 we want to rebuild our current website: it must be able to handle much more participants in the future. We want to design a “Plug and Play” architecture.
Every group of scouts that has a good global idea can develop an application. When the application is promising and is in line with the starting points it will be published.
Starting Points
- All Work Done By (Scout) Volunteers
- Guaranteed Privacy of Participants
- Open Source software (where possible)
- Non Commercial; few sponsors allowed (without advertisements)
- Future Proof in terms of further development and long term support
- JOTA-JOTI is a Group activity. Although participation as an individual is possible, it is not encouraged.
JOTA-JOTI should become more interactive: not only talking together, but also playing together.
Team
The International JOTA-JOTI Project team does already exist for a long time. For example 30 Weblog Approvers from all different countries check each year the Weblogs created. Several developers are supporting the functionality of www.jotajoti.org.
For the JOTA-JOTI Vision 2015 we will need much more volunteers worldwide. Volunteers to design and set up the IT architecture, to manage projects, to translate, to communicate, to edit the international JOTA-JOTI DVD, to maintain the website. Before JOTA-JOTI 2012 we want to have a strong international team of about 50 volunteers.
