The European Youth Forum (YFJ) works to empower young people to participate actively in the shaping of Europe and the societies in which they live, and in improving the living conditions of young people as European citizens in today’s world.
As a platform, it is the representative body of its 95 member organisations towards institutions and partners active in the youth field. The members of the YFJ are arranged in two pillars, national youth councils (NYCs) and international non-governmental youth organisations (INGYOs), like the ESR.

The Advisory Council on Youth comprises 30 representatives of non-governmental youth organisations and networks. It provides opinions and input from the youth NGOs on youth activities and ensures that young people are involved in the Council’s other activities. The Joint Council on Youth is a co-decision body. It establishes the youth sector’s priorities, objectives and budget envelopes. The Programming Committee on establishes, monitors and evaluates the programmes of the European Youth Centres and of the European Youth Foundation.
