Scouts had a premier encounter with Australia's Prime Minister
Although, he was never a Scout, Australia's Prime Minister John Howard can't help but be impressed with the Scouts Australia, Australia's national Scout organization, describing it as the greatest youth movement in the country.
In a not so ordinary encounter, excitement and exchange of high fives filled the Blackburn Scout Hall as the Prime Minister came face to face with dozens of young Scouts who were eager, particulalrly the young Scout cubs, to show him their one-of-a-kind tricks, the fine art of constructing monkey bridges, gateway and ropeless bridges.
The Prime Minister was in delight as Scouts proudly showed him how to wear the commemorative scarf and woggle.
In this high-profile gathering, PM Howard promised $17.7 million to install rainwater tanks at the 16,000 Scout halls across Australia and even declared the Year 2008 as the Year of the Scout in Australia.
