Rover Section is created in Namibia

Since November 2006, Scouts of Namibia can boast of a third branch, being the Rover section. On Sunday, 5 November 2006, the first 3 Rovers of the Windhoek Rover Crew were invested by Regional Commissioner Ben Strohbach.

At the same occasion, the Windhoek Rover Crew officially took charge of their Rover Den in Robert Mugabe Avenue. The Crew consists of former Scouts of 1 st, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 7th Windhoek, as well as 1st Tsumeb. The new Rover Crew is now inviting other young people of the rovering age to come out and join them. Rovering is meant for young adults. In Namibia, the age bracket for this section is from 18 to 26 years. Their Motto being “Service”, Rovers are expected to serve the community, particularly the Scouting community. In this light prospective Rovers are expected to undertake a small service project before being invested as Rover.
