Greetings from the New Unit Manager, Indian Ocean Sub-Region

Elzette Balgobin is the new Unit Manager, Indian Ocean of the Africa Scout Region. In her own words, she introduces herself:

My name is Elzette Balgobin. I am 43 years old and live in the Town of Curepipe, Mauritius. I married Jean-Marie 18 years ago and together we have 3 children: a daughter of 16 years old, Anaelle ( President of the National Youth Scout Council), a daughter of 12 years, Alexandra (Patrol leaders in her scout troop) and a son of 4 years, Andrew. I have been working in the textile industry for 7 years as supervisor and trainer. I joined an NGO, Action Familiale, in 1998 as a supervisor and trainer for trainers in Reproductive health, mainly Natural Family Planning Program. Though I married a scout, I only joined the scout movement in 2000 to launch the 20th Upper Plaines Wilhems which is now a success story. Since then I have helped the Upper Plaines Wilhems District as Assistant District Commissioner for Program and Chairperson of the Program Committee and have contributed in the work of the Mauritus Scout Association as HIV/Aids Coordinator. I was in charge of the HIV/Aids and Non-Violence campaigns for the District. I also joined the training team of the District as trainer for Woodbadge Course as they were implementing the Modular System. During my spare times I like reading, cooking, watching TV, creative art, dancing and chatting with my children. Otherwise I prefer light meals, chocolate, fashion, hill-walking and singing. My wish is to work closely with my new colleagues as a team for Excellence
