Africa Scout Day 2013 - Ethiopia!

ETHIOPIA - After a colorful 6th Africa Scout Jamboree the Africa Scout fraternity is looking forward to the Africa Scout Day that is set to take place in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia from the 10th-14th March 2013. The event with the theme, “Scouts promoting good citizenship and peace”, will target participants from the age of 14-26 years who are expected to pay 400 ETB (20 USD) for national Scouts, 60 USD for the rest of the Africa region and 100 USD for the rest of the world.

13th March was declared Africa Scout Day by the Council of Ministers of the Organization of African Unity (now the Africa Union) meeting in its 62nd Ordinary Session Addis Ababa in Ethiopia on 21st–23rd June 1995.

The council recognized that the Scout Movement was the largest movement for the young people, a movement that has proved its mettle in the area of education and molding of young people, as well as in training of adults, hence the decision to have a day to honor the Scout Movement in Africa.
