Africa Regional Office

Objective
To strengthen the Africa Regional Office with human and material capacity to oversee the implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the 10-year development plan.

The World Scout Bureau, Africa Regional Office is the secretariat of the World Organization of the Scout Movement in Africa. It is responsible for supporting National Scout Organizations/Associations in the Region, in all their endeavours of promoting Scouting in the respective countries where they are established and of co-ordinating the development of Scouting in the Africa Region. In addition, it liaises with other Regional Offices, the Head Office in Geneva and National Scout Organizations/Associations in other regions that are keen to co-operate with Scouting in Africa. It is the contact point for Scouting with all non-Scouting bodies in the Region.
The Africa Regional office is responsible to oversee the successful execution of the 10-Year Plan. This will include initiating most of the aspects of the Plan and in all cases be responsible for supporting National Scout Organizations /Associations to implement their parts of the Plan as well as carry out monitoring and evaluation throughout the 10 years.
Strategies
a) Provision of adequate space for all its activities in particular construct a Scout Training Centre adjacent to the regional office in Nairobi which will serve Scouts and non-Scouts, comprising lecture rooms, group meeting rooms, conference hall, residential rooms and recreational facilities.
b) Increase qualified personnel; recruit additional staff in the areas of Youth Programme, Adult Resources, Communication and IT.
c) Procure necessary equipment and furniture for the regional office and the operations centres.
d) Train both existing staff and newly recruited staff.
e) Strengthen the two Operations Centers in terms of equipment and additional staff.
