The objective of the World Bank Group is to fight poverty and improve the standard of living for people belonging to developing nations.
The World Bank Group consists of five international organisations: the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD), the International Finance Corporation (IFC), International Development Association (IDA), Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency (MIGA), and the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSI).
World Scouting and its official relationship (ECOSOC general consultative status) with the World Bank supports their joint activities in the fields of peace, youth policy and empowerment and sustainable development. Past exchanges between the two organizations have included World Scouting's participation in the World Bank Group's ABCEDE Conference, in which Scout representatives spoke of the importance of informing young people about the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). World Scouting has also co-organised the “Youth, Development and Peace” conference with the World Bank Group in 2003 (Paris) and 2004 (Sarajevo).
The World Bank and Nokia are pleased to invite youth organizations and their partners to apply for grants for projects which will help young people in transition to work or which will support their active citizenship and participation.
