Croatian Scouts celebrate European Year of Volunteering
On June 11 and 12, 1200 Scouts from all around Croatia gathered in Bistra to draw attention to the contribution made by volunteers to society. The activity was organised by Savez Izvidaca Hrvatske (Scout Association of Croatia), the Municipality of Bistra, as well as the Scout group of Bistra. The activity was under the patronage of the Government of the Republic of Croatia, the Ministry of Family, Veterans and Inter-generational Solidarity and the County of Zagreb.
Beside the programme activities that were open for citizens, a blood donating activity was organised as well.
On Sunday, the activity was officially closed by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Croatia, Mrs. Jadranka Kosor.
The activity was visited by Ms. Karin Ahlback Member of World Scout Committee and Mr. Falko Mohrs, member of the Board of European Youth Forum. They were pleased with the high level of support for celebrating the European Year of Volunteering in Croatia.
The Scout Association of Croatia is continuing its participation in the celebrations of the European Year of Volunteering through consultations with other NGOs working with children about the specifics of volunteering with children.
