THE SCOUT ASSOCIATION OF THE BAHAMAS CELEBRATES 100 YEARS

2013 will mark 100 years of scouting. Scouting reached the Bahamas late in 1912 when Miss Evelyn Lobb who as a member of the staff at government house, and was instrumental on forming the first Scout Troop. On march 19 of 1913 the Bahamas received its chárter from the UK, and was named The Bahamas Branch Boy Scout´s Association.

On the 1 August of 1974 the Babamas became a member in its own standing as the 106 member of the World Scout Movement and was named The Scout Association Of The Bahamas, for this reason, The National Execituve Committee Of The Scout Association Of The Bahamas, declared that the association´s 100 anniversary celebration of scouting shall be celebrated from march 2012 throughout the year and to continue in 2013 the year of scouting`s 100 anniversary.
The centenary will be provided to demostrate the unity of world scouting, the quality of scouting, to promote peace,to demostrate unique value of scouting and commitment to nature environment and to show concern for all communities.
The Scout Association Of The Bahamas will celebrate 100 years of Scouting, and the Association has started its countdown. Many activities will be planned to celebrate this great event and we are inviting to all of you to join us.
