In the beat of local music, an estimated crowd of over 5,000 foreign and local participants spent the night at the grand arena enjoying the richness of Filipino culture during the Philippine Cultural Night hosted by the Boy Scouts of the Philippine (BSP) on 30th December 2009.
Six Rover Scouts died on the spot and over 25 other Scouts of the Pakistan Boy Scouts Association were injured when a suicide bomber blew himself up during a religious gathering in Karachi, Pakistan on 28th December 2009.
Fifty long years had passed and the good memories of the 10th World Scout Jamboree held in 1959, in Mt. Makiling in the Philippines, is still as vivid as it was before, as some participants of the world jamboree met together on 29th December 2009 for their golden anniversary reunion.

Close to 14,000 Scouts from different countries marched in a colourful and festive parade towards the grand arena of Mt. Makiling in Laguna, Philippines for the opening ceremony of the 26th APR Scout Jamboree on 28th December 2009.
Overseas and local participants have started to arrive in Mt. Makiling, Laguna, Philippines, making it the home of Scouts from different parts of the world, gearing up for the 26th Asia-Pacific Regional Scout Jamboree which will open this afternoon and will end on 2nd January 2010.
To keep the Scouts safe and healthy all throughout the 26th APR Scout Jamboree in Mt. Makiling, Philippines from 28th December 2009 to 3rd January 2010, a water re-filling station was set up at the camp providing a scalar energy water that will keep everyone energized.
The 26th Asia Pacific Regional Scout Jamboree activities has already begun for close to 700 Scout leaders and volunteers, serving as International Service Staff (ISTs), from 13 countries around the world took part in the IST orientation held in the afternoon of 26th December 2009, as part of the most-awaited 26th Asia-Pacific Regional Scout Jamboree at Mt. Makiling, Laguna Province, Philippines.
The Singapore Scout Association will be the next host of the 3rd ASEAN Scout Jamboree at the Sarimbun Scout Camp from 4th to 9th December 2010 as a result of the meeting of leaders of ASEAN Scout Association Regional Co-operation (ASARC) Mid-Term Meeting, held at the Cibubur Scout Complex in Jakarta, Indonesia on 25th November 2009.

The Scout Association of Hong Kong (SAHK) and the Youth Federation of Sichuan signed two agreements on 27th July 2009, related to assistance for the reconstruction of two youth facilities in the cities of Mianyang and Deyang and multi-year support for a training program targeting young people living in areas heavily affected by the massive May 2008 Sichuan earthquake claiming 69,000 lives, another 18,000 people missing and leaving 4.8 million people homeless.
