BELGIAN SCOUTS & GUIDES CELEBRATE 100 YEARS OF SCOUTING

On Sunday 29th April 95,000 Scouts and Guides from the five Belgian associations celebrated the Centenary in Brussels. Aged from 6 to 76 they camped around the city on Saturday night only to converge on city parks on Sunday to participate in activities celebrating Scouting.

The climax of the weekend was when they all paraded to the Heysel stadium for two spectacular performances of a giant Scout show. The Scouts and Guides were joined there by Crown Prince Filip, Prime Minister, Guy Verhofstadt, Secretary General of WOSM, Eduardo Missoni, and numerous other political and community leaders.

Over two years of careful planning and the involvement of 8,000 volunteers ensured the weekend was a great success and a true reflection of the contribution of Scouting in Belgium.
