Workshop on Recruitment gathered 14 participants from Ireland, Malta, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Serbia, Sweden and UK.

 

Danish Scout Council welcomed four selected associations on the meeting to kick-off new initiative to support development of Scouting and Guiding in Eastern Europe.

 

European Scout Region organized the Seminar on e-Learning from 16 to 19 November, aiming to provide participants with knowledge about the possibilities of e-learning in the training of adults and so initiate debate concerning its application for adult training in NSAs.

 

Last weekend the second workshop in the Long Term Growth Project took place in Antwerp. Before the workshop participants had worked on a large document that describes factors that impact growth. This document was reviewed during the weekend. At the same time a new phase in the project was started. In the supporting growth phase, they will execute little projects to support growth in the different associations and the region.

The report will follow as soon as possible.

 

On Friday 10th November during the General Assembly (GA) of the European Youth Forum (YFJ) in Vilnius, Jaakko Weuro (Finnish Scouting ) was elected Vice-President of the the YFJ and Tine Radnija (Slovenian Scouting) to the YFJ Bureau. Their election was the product of many months of hard work and careful planning and co-ordination - but now the real hard work will start with representing European Scouting . . .

 

The Finance Support Group of the European Scout Region had a meeting on 10-11 November 2006. Among the topics discussed the main ones were: a review of the financial situation as at 30 September 2006 (closing of accounts); an an analysis of expenditures for the period 2005/2006; an evaluation of the locations of the European Scout Office; an evaluation of the work done by the FSG and its impact on the Region (as the FSG is a new working group, which started in 2004); and a list of the future actions to be undertaken for the period 2007-2009: the implementation of the new financial regulation related to Internal Control System will be one of the major task in the years to come.

 

Following results of the First Working Session on Training Systems, held in June in Budapest, small group of experts from France, Slovenia, UK and European Scout Region met over weekend 10 - 12 November in Geneva to continue developing specific approach in designing or renewing a training system. The group went deeper into the process and discussed many elements that constitute it. The group will continue work on designing a tool. For this reason, another larger Working Session is foreseen from 26 to 28 January.

 

Partnerships was the theme of the International Commissioners’ Forum that took place in Copenhagen, Denmark. Over 120 participants from National Scout Associations and Member Organizations were in attendance.

 

A Working Session on Lifelong Learning took place in Ljubljana, Slovenia, over the weekend of 19-22 October 2006. Organised by the Trends Working Group, the working session brought together a small number of participants from across Europe, keen to explore how this issue affects Scouting.

The Network Meeting is the annual meeting of Scout and Guide representatives. This year an extra special effort was made to design a meeting that would enthuse, inform and motivate the development of a network. While there are aspects of the event that could have been improved or delivered better the consensus feeling was that it was the best Network Meeting in this triennium.
