5th APR Course for Leader Trainers, an enriching experience

As an ancillary event to the 22nd Regional Scout Conferencem, the 5th APR Course for Leader Trainers became a melting pot of disparate training style and culture as 35 Leader Trainers from Bangladesh, Bhutan, Brunei Darussalam, Scouts of China, Fiji, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Republic of Korea, Nepal, Philippines, Singapore, Hong Kong and French Polynesia, gathered and worked together from 10th to 16th October at the National Youth Center in Tokyo, Japan.

The course used the framework of the World Adult Resources Handbook covering five modules: Scouting knowledge, training skills, adult learning skills, leadership skills and personal development skills. The first three modules were designed to develop competencies in the training of trainers and the two remaining modules focused on equipping leaders with management and personal development skills.

Having an effective international pool of trainers comprised of Peter J. Blatch of Australia (Chairman of Adult Resources Sub-Committee), Dr Wai Ming Mak (Vice-Chairman), Paul Parkinson of Australia, Dr Mirza Ali Haider of Bangladesh, Lo Wai Shing of Hong Kong, Dr Cyrus Wadia of India, Toby Suzuki of Japan, Young Chang Kim of Korea and Shantha Madurawe of Sri Lanka, with the support of Thian Hiong Boon from APR office, various methods of delivery were used making the course enriching for everyone attended.
