ACCRA – On World Environment Day, 5 June 2009, twelve Rovers from various tertiary institutions in Ghana took an initiative to celebrate World Environment Day in their own way. These Rovers financed and organised a service project by themselves after gaining permission from the National Headquarters.

 

NAIROBI - From 28 May to 2 June 2009, Langata Scouts (Kenya Scouts Association) held a Training of Trainers workshop on HIV and AIDS at Rowallan Scout Camp thanks to the support of the U Fund. Key topics covered included: discovery of self, developing healthy relationships, understanding sex and sexuality, decision making, basic facts on HIV and AIDS, risk and risk assessment, prevention and risk reduction, stigma and discrimination, STIs, communication, problem solving and conflict resolution and drug and substance abuse.

 

NAIROBI – On Friday, 5 June 2009, the Africa Regional Office (ARO) marked the World Environment Day by planting trees at Ayany Primary School. These trees were planted in an attempt to upgrade the Africa Scout Garden that was launched on Africa Scout Day 2009.
